Artist Bio

Jason Butler
Photography

est. Louisiana/Texas | c. Springdale, Utah

About 35 years ago Jason decided to take a cross country drive on the way to Las Vegas. He had seen images of the Southwest; however, it wasn’t until he was face-to-face with these vistas that he realized how impossible it would be to describe these locations, let alone attempt to capture their scale, beauty and magnificence. Immediately he was drawn to capturing this majesty and sharing the views and experiences through his lens.  While Jason has photographed in beautiful locations throughout the world, such as Ireland, Australia, Mexico, Canada, the Islands of Hawaii, as well as forty-six other states, his most profound inspiration still comes from the Desert Southwest and the Colorado Plateau.

At first, photography was a personal passion, shared selectively with others. Becoming a professional photographer was like many things in life, placed it on the back burner in order to secure a career. After 25 years working in the broadcasting and new-media industry, Jason changed his tactics; instead of working to make someone else successful, he have decided to work for himself. Jason embrace his love of photography and, utilizing his 20+ years of experience as a visual communicator, he endeavored to share with others his unique perspective of this stunning world in which we live.

For Jason, the essence of photography is the ability to capture light and then transfer that same light onto a permanent medium. His challenge transferring what he sees and feels in nature onto his photographic prints, having them be as realistic as possible.  All of Jason's prints are photographic prints made by exposing photo sensitive material to light. The same light that Jason captured in the real world.

Jason wants to share his unique perspective on this beautiful world upon which we live… Jason want this light to move you as much as it moves him.
