Gourd Art

est. Utah | c.  Herriman, Utah

Judy VanDuren is a talented gourd artist who, along with her late husband Mudd VanDuren, has created some of the most unique and beautiful gourd art pieces in the world. The couple, who were both artists in their own right, combined their talents to create stunning works of art that are treasured by art lovers everywhere.

Judy grew up with a passion for art and experimented with many different mediums before discovering the gourd. Mudd, who was a fire-fighter and horticulturalist, was a keen gardener and helped Judy to grow and cultivate the gourds that would eventually become her canvas. Mudd's expertise in horticulture allowed him to hand-shape individual gourds, sometimes even to Judy's exact specifications, and helped to ensure that each gourd grew beautifully in the high-desert climate of southwestern Utah where the couple retired.

Judy and Mudd's shared passion for gourd art has left a lasting legacy that continues to inspire new generations of artists. Mudd may have passed away, but his memory lives on through the beautiful pieces of art that he and Judy created together. Their gourd art is a testament to their love of the American Southwest, their shared passion for art, and their commitment to preserving the rich heritage of gourd art. They are both inspirations to artists everywhere, and their work will remain cherished and appreciated by future generations..
